Chess pieces
A black and white floor repeats the same square no matter which way you advance. The piece in the center has horns and wings. The smaller pieces on either side have the heads of goats, and are sewn to the pedestal with chain. The rank behind them has not moved. There is no outside of the board where a captured piece could be set down. You place a finger because it is your turn, and that square alone loses the color of your piece.
