Gears keep turning the same way, deep in the wall. The horns are iron. Only the furnace in the chest holds heat. The wings are rows of rivets. The two who kneel are machines as well, and the chain is part of the drive. No face of the machine carries a lever that would stop it. Push a gear that has stopped, and the next thing to turn is not inside the card. It is the joint on your side.
