Ruler, compass, and pen
Circles and straight lines measure a body on parchment. Horns are repeated arcs. Wings are an accumulation of triangles. The chain joins dots set at equal intervals. A compass point has left a hole at every joint. The construction lines were never erased. They remain under the finished outline. Before you finish reading the radius, one of the circles closes at the measure of your throat.
